Stimulus: Should Older Americans Expect a Fourth Stimulus Check?
Inflation has reached a new 41-year high, and the price of groceries and gas has skyrocketed, but Congress has yet to take any action to give older Americans a break.
However, there is still a petition going around urging politicians to give seniors a fourth $1,400 stimulus payment.
Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients are hoping that Congress would consider a fourth stimulus payment.
The Senior Citizens League is reaching out to leading members of Congress to support the one-time $1,400 stimulus check given to Social Security claimants who are among the most severely affected by price hikes.
The group argued that the cost-of-living adjustment and inflation will have a significant negative impact on many elderly Americans who are on fixed incomes in a letter to Congress last year.
After hearing from many seniors about their difficulties in the years following the pandemic, the proposal was created.
The Senior Citizens League is not the only organization seeking communication with Congress. A petition that is published on Change.org has received more than 3 million signatures.
It is requesting that Congress provide monthly stimulus checks with $2,000 for adults and $1,000 for children.
Is the Fourth Check Coming?
Numerous lawmakers have spoken in favor of continuing the stimulus program, but when the debate turned to the Build Back Better Act, all hope was lost.
Late last year, as inflation swept the nation, Congress came to a halt over the social spending plan.
Since then, Congress has shifted its focus to other issues, and the topic of economic stimulus is not currently being discussed. This implies that Social Security beneficiaries shouldn't anticipate getting another $1,400 check
